5th Annual "Sculpting for Surgeons" Workshop on the Figurative Torso
Longmont, Colorado on April 23-26, 2020.
Sculpting for Surgeons provides in-depth artistic training for the physician and surgeon practicing in the Cosmetic industry.
During this intensive 4-day aesthetic sculpting course, participants will be engrossed in the formal study of art as related to ideal human beauty and cosmetic surgery and therapy. This concentrated personal training will strengthen observational skills, constructive thinking, visual form sense, and tactile skills while studying structural anatomy as it relates to form, function and motion. Working from live profession models, the curriculum will address human structure and form, contour inter-relationships, proportions, ratios, beauty lines, volume disposition, gender and dichotomy, cultural values, harmony and balance.
Incorporating 3-D classical sculpting principles, this hands-on course will emphasize the study of human form from sketching to "additive and reductive" clay techniques, reproducing representative human anatomy relative to aesthetic surface markers and form. Coordinated with an integrative human cadaver lab, the surgeon will learn to translate artistic principle into the surgical technique and practices.
The knowledge gleaned from the sculptural arts enriches patient analysis, visionary thought processing, planning and on to surgical application. This experience provides essential artistic training for the physician, a necessary component to advancing one’s artistic eye, perspective, application for surgical and non-surgical practices.
This April workshop is unique, as it is designed as an innovative experience to address the contemporary trends in beauty with a fresh perspective in cosmetic surgery of Figurative Body. The curriculum will redefine the structural anatomy of the human torso, chest, breast, buttock and proximal extremities (with minor emphasis on the head and neck) all in all complimented by cadaveric study applying current techniques and technology.
